And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
For quite some time now, we have felt the Lord leading us to make some changes in the rehabilitation ministry. During the course of this year we have seen a steady decline of clients willing to attend the live-in rehabilitation center.
There are several reasons for this:
Many of the clients we are counseling in the outreach program have families, thus they cannot move to a live-in rehabilitation center.
The areas of our main focus within Kawangware slum have greatly improved.
Finally, we have attempted to market the rehab for any potential clients that could pay so as to help stabilize the ministry financially. This too has not been successful.
After much prayer and several meetings, we feel led to simplify the rehabilitation ministry back to its original form of a Drop-in Center without a live-in facility. We are still very much seeing God’s hand at the Drop-in Center; our partnership with PCEA Withaka Church has been very successful in training and counseling sessions with clients. If a client is in need of a live-in facility, he/she will simply be referred to another Christian Rehabilitation Center.
The Uzima Children’s Home is thriving, and this change will in no way negatively affect its operations. Previously, we mentioned our need to hire a tutor for children struggling academically, and now one of the employees from the rehabilitation side will be filling this position.
We trust God in all he has in store for Uzima Outreach. We know He is in control, and we know He will continue to be faithful.
Please pray for more and continuously productive partnerships so that we may extend our reach towards drug addicts for the kingdom.
Pray that the children struggling academically would greatly improve now that they have a full-time tutor in the home.
Pray that God grants wisdom to those in our leadership.
Pray for the upcoming school year, and the necessary financial requirements that come along with it.
Pray for all our children to have deep and growing relationships with Jesus.
