Merry Christmas from the Uzima Outreach Family!
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Truly when the year began none of us could have foreseen the struggles and victories that were ahead of us, but as the year comes to an end, we can say with all certainty the Lord has been good. He is our loving, faithful Father and we are blessed to be his children. And in this season of Christmas reflection, we see all the more how much He loves us.
Due to Covid19 we have had to adapt some of the ways we do our ministry, but God has been at work through it all.
For the adult rehabilitation ministry, we’ve limited our group gatherings to just once a month. There, we meet corporately to spur one another on in the Lord and give personal updates on how everyone is doing on their road to recovery and walk with Jesus. We’ve also been in the position to bless all the clients with monthly food donations thanks to your faithful support.
During the course of the week, we continue individual follow ups with the clients at their homes and the businesses Uzima helped implement. This is an especially tricky time for people living in slums where it isn’t really possible to social distance and many don’t have access to proper sanitation. However, we are pleased to share that many of the clients are healthy and making good choices to avoid relapse. We have been greatly encouraged that through the year many have come to know Jesus as their personal savior, and many of their family and friend relationships have been restored.
As for Uzima Children’s Home, we have also seen God powerfully at work. With Covid-19 restrictions just grades 4, 8 and 12 were permitted to return to school a few months back. The remainder of the children stayed home, while we did our best to homeschool during the day.
Currently, the children are all on holiday awaiting the new school year to begin, and at this point the Ministry of Education has said all students will return back to school on January 4th.
Spiritually, we’ve seen so much growth in many of the children during the course of the year. We believe it's actually been good having them around more during the day to love on them all the more. Many of the older children have really stepped up this year to be godly examples for the little ones. When we have our home church, the older children take turns sharing the Word and leading in worship, and we have seen a lot of spiritual growth and maturity.
Thank you for being a part of the Uzima Outreach family. Every day we pray for you. Merry Christmas!
